Tango Books 4 Years, 4 Months ago
is there any books about tango's passion, love, experience, life etc?

I can find books about tango's history, or technical dance technique, but not the experience of people learning tango, or how tango is affecting their life or even tango dancers' love stories etc. I just want to read about how tango affect the real life of those dancing it.

You can find articles and stories in various tango websites, written by organisers of other tango communities.

One other useful source is the tango bulletin board, Tango-L list (you can find the link to join on the "Links" page on this website). You can also search the archives at:

pythia.uoregon.edu/~llynch/Tango-L/

as well.

Hi lisce,
Why don't you talk to the dancers you already know? I've been exchanging emails with people who dance tango from around the world, both males and females, on topics from tango techniques to love and life... in general. It's an extraordinary, fascinating and rewarding experience. I'm sure everybody got their little tango story. If you want to talk or are ready to open up, feel free to email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Hope you found/ will find what you look for. Cheers, ognat.

Thanks for your suggestion, but in actual situation, i really can't find any good time to chat with people on the dance floor, may be i'm still too eager to go dancing instead of chatting around, or i'm not that easy to get into real talks in practicas ... but yes, the biggest resource is people around us.

back to books, i do manage to find books about tango and life finally, i ordered two books from the amazon (the shipping cost is nearly higher than the cost of the book itself!)... 1/The Tao of Tango; 2/Paper Tango.

The Tao of Tango is largely a personal experience of tango through which the author discover the dynamic between men and women in relations. The author has strong feeling towards accepting and respecting female energy in herself through tango which has changed her a lot. I enjoyed reading all the experiences the author wrote on learning tango, but she seems to repeat too much on accepting and respecting the 'energies' of different sexes which is a very important issue for her ... however, it's still worth reading if you are thirst for reading something on the real experience in tango... and it's easy to read, i finished reading it in two nites.

Paper tango is something much more difficult to read. not really difficult, but it is more serious, from an anthropology perspective with more cultural, political and theoretical point of view... it's a serious search for the Argentine identity through Tango and i have still yet to finish it after X nites ...

if any of you are interested to read them, i can lend you the books.
