We are happy and excited to bring Javier Rodriguez and Andrea Misse back to Hong Kong this year 2008, from 15th to 21st May. The are the forefront runners of Villa Urquiza style in Salon Tango. They came to Hong Kong last year 2007 and taught us their unique way of dancing tango. When they left, many of us changed. We change in the way we think about tango, the walking, the embrace and in the way we dance. And for some privileged ones, they changed in their mind-set too, see http://www.tangotang.com/Mambo/component/option,com_mycontent/task,view/id,381/Itemid,196/. Hong Kong is one of the stops of their Asian tour touring Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and Singapore. It started when the organizers of these 4 cities met them in Taipei last year September. And it was just an easy click they decided to go on tour in 2008 with organizers working together to fix the logistics. Each city is allotted a week before they fly back to Europe for more activities there. We managed to organize 12 group classes, 1 guided practica and 8-10 private lessons with them. In contrast to some other artistes, who ask for maximum number of group class and private lesson, they prefer lesser classes so they can have enough rest and teach the classes with highest quality. It is we who demand the maximum number of group class and private lesson from them. We pay the teachers in Euro currency. And Euro has strengthened against USD and HKD 20% in the past 12 months. The average class size last year was 46 for all levels and intermediate classes and 36 for advanced classes. And there were comments about the classes being too crowded. This time we decided to keep all classes to a maximum size of 36, so as to maintain a better learning environment. Furthermore, we pick Dance Beat studio for all classes, to proved larger space than those of last year, of course at higher rental charge. With all these increases, we charge the classes 10% higher than last year. Last year, they taught us milonga Etiquette at our Tuesday Guided Practica. It was full of fun and laughter http://www.tangotang.com/Mambo/component/option,com_mycontent/task,view/id,379/Itemid,196/. This year, we will invite them to teach more on dance floor navigation, a topic that is seldom taught in classes. We go back to Butterfield’s to have our Grand Milonga there. It is praised by many of us being good atmosphere, has nice food and plenty of food. So come with an empty stomach and enjoy fully the evening. We are working on the registration form and hope we can start registration on 15 April at our Tuesday Guided Practica. After that, email registration will start and we wish everybody good luck in their application. Please come back here from time to time to check update information. And finally, watching Javier and Andrea’s performance youtubes will certainly amuse you. Watching them demonstrating the things they taught in class will sure give you an idea what classes you want to enroll. Here is demonstration from the Adornments class.
