Here are some inside stories.

The Classes

When Agnes and I arrived at Helena May sharp 9:30p.m. on 15 April to prepare the registration for the classes, there were already 30 people there waiting.  Enrollment forms were folded and arranged neatly in order, with numbers marked on each form to prevent queue jumping.  See photo. 

All the classes were full within the 2 hours registration, and there is a short waiting list.  Short, because we closed the waiting list soon enough and stopped people putting money in.  

In summary, there are 72 students enrolled successfully and on average 37.4 students per class, the lady to man ration is 1:0.9.  The average no. of year of dancing of students are  2.33, 2.71 and 4.04 for Module A, B and C respectively.  There were 11 students enrolled Module A+B+C, 15 for Module A+B, 5 for Module B+C, and 5 for Module A+C.  There were another 10 who take only Module C as well.

That means total 16 students who are of advanced level (Module C) take the Module A.  In old Chinese sayings, the old horses know the way home.  These experienced dancers know the most valuable things are the fundamentals.  So they take the walking and embrace classes with the Javier & Andrea, even though they have taken similar classes many times before.  You always have new insights when revisiting the basic elements.

The Grand Milonga

The Butterfield's is famous for its plentiful of delicious food, and the spacious dance floor.  So come early with an empty stomach and ready for the feast.

Our dj Oskar is making his dj debut in a grand milonga.  He is preparing fabulous music for us day by day.  His problem is preparing more music for extended dancing beyond our scheduled closing time of 2:00a.m.  Be it 3:00a.m. or 4a.m., will depend on the guests. 

Welcome Milonga

We do not have a Welcome Milonga.  Kamong used to organize his Milonga Nuevo on every Thursday night.  But he skipped one week on 16 May so as to give way to Javier's classes.

There are friends from Taipei, Singapore, Shanghai and other cities flying in to attend the classes and milongas, and they want to dance every night while they are in Hong Kong.  We talked to Kamong and he agreed to host the Milonga Nuevo on 16 May.  He will prepare more traditional music for the overseas friends and Javier & Andrea (though we cannot guarantee they will be there).  And let's see how traditional his songs can be.

So consider this as an un-official welcome milonga for our overseas guests and come to meet them.
