a freezing night, but a warm milonga ...

This year, it's the second time we organized Outdoor Milonga at the Star Avenue. Again, hoping to make some voices and appearances to the public, so that more people at least have a chance to see what Argentine Tango is like, and feel how it is danced with a casual milonga environment.

A video summary of the event can be found at Youtube http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=tFztVcF_xlY

That nite,  We don't expect so many people still came with temperature being only 10 degrees! Although it's really freezing, we can feel the atmosphere surprisingly heated, the music played by Richard was perfect drawing people to dance all the time, or is it the coldness that prompt people to move non-stop? i don't know ... but the fact that men can wear their suit all the time dancing without sweating, and women surrender themselves to the warmth that their partners offered them, making the event actually a very warm milonga ... it seems that we are all energized and fulfilled by the warm embraces of tango ...

With the help of a lot of friends, this year, the milonga was having more elements with performances by other couples and a group dance choreographed by us. We wish to make a showcase to the public with performances, some solo pieces just casually improvised, and the other choreographed. It's a very interesting and fulfilling experience making the choreography this time, we started it 2 months before the show, and we finished the choreography in 5 practices, and the last 3 was to make it smooth. Though this time the performance is not really very satisfactory, cos the floor condition, the lighting all made us distracted and lost, however, through these chances, we actually train up ourselves with more experience to give performances. If you want to join us in these performances, let us know, we wish one day we could have a group of dancers, a performance team, ready to give a shows to the public with good standard.

After the formal milonga at the Film Statue, we have a drink and then moved to the Cultural Centre plaza. There, it's very relaxed, we played music from our portable sound system, and then people start dancing naturally. We spread out ourselves to dance in the plaza as much as we can hear the music. At times, we have some passerby watching us and asking us about what we are doing, some are very impressed and interested, and we just talk to them casually like friends. While we are not dancing, we just sit on the floor, or even squeeze together and lie down over our bags, we looked at the moon and stars which were so clear that night, and felt like wild camping in an urban setting!! ... with nice music, and warm embraces, we are all exclaiming "what a night"...

With a lot of requests and encouragement to do more outdoor milongas, we promise you that our Outdoor Milonga will come back soon! ... stay tuned
