LAILA & LEANDRO OLIVER
Laila y Leandro Oliver are currently main dancers in the world renowned "Tango x 2" company. They are dancers, choreographers and masters since 1997 when they went to Japan with "NISSAN TANGO BUENOS AIRES". Since then, they have danced in the most prestigious Argentine Tango companies, such as "COPES TANGO COPES" (from Juan Carlos Copes), "TANGUERA" (as main dancer), "TANGO EMOCION" (from Mora Godoy, as main dancer and choreographer), and many others. In addition, they have represented the Argentina in the Universal Expo AICHI 2005, in Japan (as main dancers and choreographers). Since 1999 and even now, they are working with Miguel Angel Zotto in "TANGO X 2 COMPANY". They have also been main dancers and judge in-chief in "TANGO LIBERTAD FESTIVAL 2008¨ in Japan. They are one of the creators and artistic directors of "TANGO CON LAS ESTRELLAS FESTIVAL". In an independent and continuous way, they travel around the world teaching and spreading their unique technique. Laila and Leandro are one of the best teachers i have had during my 3-month stay in BsAs last year. Astonished by their stylish and elegant presentation in the Tango x 2 show that i watched in BsAs, i decided to find them and ask them for private lessons. In the first class, just after the first dance with Leandro, they had already point out the most important weakness of me in my dance, and just by changing that a little bit, i had already felt a lot difference. They are very demanding teachers, in classes, but they actually did help and pushed me to improve. Classes of Laila y Leandro are energetic, very helpful with a lot of exercises to help you train up your technique solidly. The ONE-MONTH programme is tailor made to give you an intensive training for a visible difference in your dance! Classical tango training, real improvement to technique ... We have been very lucky to have many Argentine teachers came to HK to give workshop in the past, we have had teachers with nuevo style, teachers who are salon dancers, but we have never had teachers who themselves are Classical Stage Tango dancers. Being stage tango dancers do not necessary means they only do big exagerated movements, they are instead very subtle and calm, having a kind of classical elegance of Argentine tango that we all admire. Watch their performances in TangoX2 Show in Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK_zwYrGdJA. Moreover, they are also good salon tango dancers since Laila's father is the organizer of the milonga Club Gricel in BsAs, she has been dancing in milongas since little girl ... Classical tango training help you to get your body tuned to do the movement in a proper way, and prepare yourself to be technically capable to do a wider range of movement. It actually drill on very basic technique so that it helps all aspect of dancing no matter your style is Salon or Nuevo or whatever ... What I like about Classical Tango is that i found the lead is more subtle, the energy is more condensed, it's somehow different from nuevo style that movement and dynamics are very visible, this is good in a way that it's very clear in teaching, but now, i find the smaller your lead is, and the more invisible your lead can be, you can keep your posture and your movement more elegant without losing connection. Leandro and Laila were classically trained. They have a lot of exercises and very good knowledge of how to train up students and help them improve ... apart from teachers who inspired us about feelings, and styles, and attitude, we need teachers who really help us build up a solid foundation with technique, technique and technique, and from that on, we can enjoy tango from another level ... insight to private classes ... In most workshops when teacher only stay for 1 or 2 weeks, we can only take 1 or 2 lessons from them at most, the 1 or 2 hours can only let you realize the problem of you but they cannot help you fix the problems. So, everytime when the masters comes, we get to realize how bad we are dancing, but we are left without help after they left, because when we want to practice and make the change, we might come across other problems, and we might face confusions but we are left without anyone to advise us or clarify our problems, the result is either we go back to our bad habbits or we keep fighting with our partners again ... It's very frustrating indeed ... But now that we have a good chance to get the teachers help us work out the problem consistantly and change our bad habbit and consolidate our improvement. I myself found it very useful to take 1 or 2 private lessons in a week, and go out to milongas to practice after the classes and then come back to the teachers to check the progress to see if we have really make the changes in the right direction, and then they correct again, and then we practice at weekend again, and go back to the private classes again to finetune our body until the good habbits really get into our bodies and become ours ... it take 3 to 4 classes in general to get what you learn solid. But once you get it, you won't lose it, it's yours, and it's an real improvement in you! That's why for me, i'd rather take private classes a few time continously with one teachers then taking one from this master and one from the others ... So, don't miss the valuable chance to have teachers staying with us for one month. It's a great chance to really get yourself and the teachers together to workout the very crucial techniques and problems you have and improve! That can result in dramatic visible improvement after 1-month!
